The Digital Signature Certificate is used for e-filing of income tax returns, e-tendering on websites of the government departments and ministries like Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Director General of Foreign Trade and Registrar of Companies.

These certificates are issued to individuals and organizations. Each class of DSC is used for specific security features to a specific level of trust for all the online transactions.
The difference between Class 2 and Class 3 DSC is:
Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate:
The Class 2 Signature Certificate is issued to both business personnel and private individuals only. The Class 2 DSC confirms that the information in the application provided by the subscriber does not conflict with the information in well-recognized consumer databases. The Class 2 DSC is used for e-filing of income tax returns & sales tax returns, etc.
Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate:
Class 3 Signature certificate is issued to the individuals and organizations only. This class 3 DSC is with the high assurance certificates and primarily it is intended for e-commerce applications, the Class 3 DSC shall be issued to individuals upon their personal appearance before the Certifying Authorities.
It is used to participate in e-tendering or e-auctions organized by governments or public sector companies.
It is noted that only Class 2 or Class 3 DSCs are needed for the work related to EPFO.

- Signature: Certificate with key usage, it can be used only for signing the documents, emails and online transactions digitally.
- Encryption: This certificate with the key usage, can be used for only encrypting the emails, documents, and online transactions.
Type of Token;
There are 2 types of tokens, one is Soft token and another one is USB Token.
The soft token is we have to download the digital signature certificate to any local machine and it has to use it from that specific machine only.
USB token is we have to download the digital signature certificate to a USB token or smart card and it can be used from the multiple devices.

The Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) Providers in Hyderabad:
